The application process to Youth-Reach Houston consists of three interviews and an intensive screening process. This process is first initiated by the potential applicant (not the parent or person with managing conservatorship). It is imperative that the potential applicant make the initial contact. The application process is as follows.
1. Initial Phone Interview- The applicant calls the Youth-Reach Houston offices to conduct an initial phone interview. At this point the applicant and parent will both be interviewed to determine if the applicant meets the criteria set forth by Youth-Reach Houston. If the applicant does not meet the criteria then the process will be terminated.
2. Application Completion- After moving through the initial phone interview phase, the applicant will be provided with the application for admission. Once the application is completed and returned to the Youth-Reach Houston offices a secondary phone interview will be conducted.
3. Secondary Phone Interview- Once Youth-Reach receives the application and it is complete our offices will contact the applicant to schedule a secondary phone interview with both the parent and the applicant. If after the secondary phone interview is completed and the application is not terminated then the personal interview will be conducted at the offices of Youth-Reach Houston.
4, Personal Interview- When the applicant reaches this phase of the process they come to the Youth-Reach offices to for a personal face to face interview with admissions counselor. The applicant and parents will be interviewed both separately and together. A tour is offered at this point if it is desired.
Once the personal interview is completed, the applicant accepted, and all of the required paperwork is received then an entrance date will be scheduled based on bed availability.
It is important to note that all scheduled appointments and interviews will be conducted at the scheduled time. If the applicants should call or arrive late then the interview/appointment will be rescheduled.
Admission Processing
Youth-Reach reserves the right to determine who is admitted and who is not admitted to the program. Young people will not be placed on a waiting list in the order that we were contacted, but according to the degree of the need each child is facing. The general makeup of the current residents of the home, and the age of the applicant will also be brought into consideration. Youth-Reach will make every attempt to keep the parents or authorities informed as to bed availability for their prospective applicant. After an applicant enters the program they will be assigned an individual counselor and this counselor will contact the family immediately. Youth-Reach may release information to parents of juvenile residents, but adult residents must give permission for any information regarding their progress, counseling, status or performance to be released.
